The bishops of New Jersey have decided to permanently transfer the observance of the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord to the Seventh Sunday of Easter, effective this year. This Solemnity will be celebrated in all the Latin-rite dioceses of New Jersey on Sunday, May 29, 2022, replacing the liturgical celebration and readings of the Seventh Sunday of Easter. Thursday, May 26 is therefore not a holy day of obligation, and will be observed in the churches of the Raritan Oratory as the Solemnity of our Holy Father St. Philip Neri.
Join the Oratory for our annual celebration of our founder, St. Philip Neri, on Thursday, May 26, beginning at 7:00 pm, in St. Joseph Church, Raritan. This year, as we commemorate the 400th anniversary of St. Philip's canonization, our celebration will include the opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence. After Mass, all are welcome to a light reception.
